Professor Antonio Gidi teaches Civil Procedure, Class Actions, Torts, and Comparative Law at Syracuse University College of Law, New York. Before joining Syracuse, he has taught for several years at the Universities of Houston and Detroit, and as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He also has extensive academic experience in Brazil, Italy, Mexico, and France.

Gidi is a Visiting Professor at Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) and at ITAM (Mexico). In 2011, Gidi was the Marcel Storme Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Ghent Law School (Belgium). In 2012, he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law. In the summer of 2013, he was a Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). Gidi served for several years as the Associate Reporter and Secretary to the American Law Institute / UNIDROIT project on Principles and Rules of Transnational Civil Procedure, a project geared to producing uniform rules of civil procedure for international litigation and arbitration.

He drafted the Model Class Action Code for Civil Law Countries, published in several languages. This work led to invitations to serve as a Co-Reporter in a project sponsored by the Ibero-American Institute of Civil Procedure to create a Model Class Actions Code for Latin America. Gidi also helped draft comprehensive class action legislation for the Mexican Senate and the Brazilian Ministry of Justice.

He has written books and articles in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and in other languages. He speaks Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and English fluently, and has working knowledge of French.

He works also as a class action expert and Brazilian and Latin American law expert.
